 | Riverton Students To Unveil a Mural of Portland History on Nov. 20 Posted on 11/18/2015 Riverton Elementary School third-graders have been using art to help them learn about the history of Portland. Their lessons will culminate in an event on Friday, Nov. 20, in which students will put on a performance about key events in the city’s history and unveil a Portland history mural that they have created.

 | School Board To Discuss Hall School Options, CIP Planning Posted on 11/16/2015 The Portland Board of Public Education will hold a workshop on Tuesday, Nov. 17, immediately following its regular meeting. Among topics at the workshop will be some proposed additional locally funded options for the planned new state-funded replacement of Hall Elementary School. The board also is slated to discuss district capital improvements needs and funding.

The recognition took place at the board’s Nov. 3 meeting.

At the event, which will run from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Portland Public Schools students, local businesses, and post-secondary schools will share their learning in STEM – science, technology, engineering and math.

 | Lyseth’s Spanish Immersion Program Visited by State Senator Posted on 11/02/2015 Maine Sen. Justin Alfond visited the Spanish immersion kindergarten and first-grade classrooms at Lyseth Elementary School on Oct. 27. The program is the first of its kind at a public school in Maine and Alfond, Democratic leader of the Maine Senate, wanted to learn more about immersion education and programming and see the students in action.
