Rise and Shine is EECS’ extended-learning engagement model began five years ago. Students in grades 3-5 choose from more than 80 engagement opportunities facilitated by staff, parents and community volunteers.

Physical activities such as indoor soccer and skateboarding are only one aspect of Rise and Shine. The program also offers a host of other activities, which range from healthy cooking to computer coding to being part of a Junior Firefighter Academy. Also, several classes under the Citizenship strand involve student service-learning projects that support students and staff within the school and across the community and the Green Team supports classroom recycling by awarding the Golden Bucket on a weekly basis, to provide some other examples.
