The junior class of Casco Bay High School is offering the public another chance to see student-made documentaries titled, “Detroit: Stories from Inside the City.” The event will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 16 in the Great Space of the high school, located at 196 Allen Avenue.
The students are offering this second screening for those who were unable to attend the premiere at the Nickelodeon Cinemas on June 6. That event was so popular it quickly sold out.
The class has been examining the widening gap between rich and poor in this country. In late April, 92 juniors traveled to Detroit to help those who are rebuilding the city and to uncover individual stories of economic inequality. Teams of students have created documentaries about people living in Detroit. “Join us for a night of justice and empowerment, as we unveil these powerful stories,” the students say. There is no charge, but donations will be accepted for the Tricycle Collective, a Detroit nonprofit.
