Students from Ocean Avenue and Presumpscot elementary schools are assisting the Friends of Payson Park, a new organization formed to act as stewards to protect, preserve and enhance the park while assuring it blends harmoniously with its adjoining communities.
The new group is creating a Pollinator Garden to help attract struggling monarch butterflies and other beneficial insects.
Presumpscot Elementary School second-graders participated recently by helping to plant and water the area. On Monday, June 13, about 60 Ocean Avenue Elementary School second-graders will come to the Pollinator Garden to spread flower seeds and hang signs they have made. This is a great partnership between the schools and the Friends of Payson Park.
