The Parent Partnership Policy Ad Hoc Committee has created a working draft of the Portland Public Schools Parent Partnership Policy and invites feedback on the draft from parents, staff, students and community members!

The Portland Board of Public Education established the Parent Partnership Ad Hoc Committee in August, charging the committee with reviewing the current PPS Parent Involvement Policy (KBF) and providing a revised and updated Parent Partnership Policy to the board's Policy Committee. As part of that work, the board directed the ad hoc committee to consult the Parent & Family Engagement Manifesto as a guide and to integrate elements of the manifesto into the revised policy.

The Parent & Family Engagement Manifesto, developed by Portland Empowered and endorsed by the school board, is a document that outlines how the Portland Public Schools can better engage with parents and families. Portland Empowered is a project of the University of Southern Maine Muskie School of Public Service that works as a community partner, championing parent voice to improve educational outcomes for students.

Upon submission of a recommended policy, the work of the ad hoc committee will be complete and the recommended policy will be processed through the Board's regular policy review and revision process.
