District Spotlight

BACK TO SCHOOL WELCOMING EVENTS
INCLUDE BBQ'S, ICE CREAM SOCIALS

The first day of school for Portland Public Schools’ students in grades 1-12 is Wednesday, Aug. 31. Pre-kindergarten and kindergarten children start on Tuesday, Sept. 6, the day after Labor Day. But even before the first day of classes, and also into the fall, district schools will hold welcoming events that include ice cream socials, barbeques, open houses to meet teachers and visit classrooms and other activities. Click here for a list of events. Also, here are some tips for helping your child start off the school year right.
